Spending Resources

Spending Resources is one of the primary objectives in the game. If you have a bunch of unspent resources there is normally a few causes.

• You are not producing units when you have idle larva. If you are not maxed you really shouldn't have idle larva
• You are getting supply blocked too much
• You do not have enough larva, this is caused by not injecting. If you are having a hard time injecting add on extra hatches.

Work on keeping Supply Block Time down

Keeping your supply block time as low as possible is one of the most important things in the game. As a zerg player it’s key to make sure you have at least 1 overlord being produced during each larva inject. What this means is when you have 2 hatches being injected, It’s recommended that you build 1-2 overlords every time your larva injection finishes. As you progress to more and more bases you add more and more overlords for each injection.

Spending Gas as Zerg / Terran / Protoss

If you have lots of Vespene as Zerg, switching techs is a great way to spend it. So if you have been going roach hydra, throw down a spire and add a bunch of mutas into the mix.

Built too much supply ahead of time

Overproducing overlords to early in the game cuts into your resources and larva which could be better spent on units, workers, buildings. Work on only staying about 10-15 supply over your currently supply. When you progress to the later stages of the game start shooting for 20-25 over your supply, this should allow you to produce units without getting supply blocked.
